Market overview

The world's fastest-growing K-12 market.

Africa's child population is growing faster than any other region's. UNICEF projects that the number of children under 18 in Africa will reach around 750 million by 2030, and that the continent will be home to more than one billion children by 2055.

In many countries, demand for quality school places is growing faster than public systems can expand. At the same time, a growing middle class is looking for private schools that offer international qualifications, modern teaching and safe, well-equipped campuses.

This combination creates a long-term opportunity for investors in private K-12 education, and a chance to make a lasting difference to young people's futures.

Our approach in Africa

Building schools that last.

Every African project begins with a feasibility study that tests demand, affordability, competition and regulation in the target city. Where it makes sense, we develop campuses in phases, opening the early years and primary sections first and adding secondary grades as the school grows.

Teacher quality is central to our model. We recruit locally and internationally, and every teacher is trained in Finnish pedagogy and the school's chosen curricula, building local capacity that lasts.

Investors can choose the level of involvement that suits them, from joint ventures to fully managed turnkey schools. Compare our partnership models, learn about the Finnish education model, or see our Middle East K-12 investment programme.
